Senator Dr. the Honourable Ronald A. Robinson Minister of State Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade
Dr. Ronald Robinson was appointed Senator and Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in September 2007.
He attended Manchester High School and following graduation, joined the Jamaica Defence Force Third Regiment where he served for three years. He then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a Doctorate in Physical and Bioinorganic Chemistry at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona.
Whilst studying at UWI, he was appointed sub-warden of his beloved Taylor Hall and was called to act as Student Services Manager on several occasions. Dr. Robinson is a former member of the National Council on Education where he served the maximum statutory six years, working to improve Jamaica’s education system. Other position held include Executive Director of the Pre-University School of which he is a founding member.
Dr Robinson is a co-founder of Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professionals of the arm of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). He is currently the Party’s Deputy General Secretary and serves as a member of the Central Executive and the Standing Committees of the JLP.
Dr. Robinson is passionate about engaging the Jamaican Diaspora in national development and as Minister of State he has sought to accelerate the creation of the Jamaica Diaspora Foundation, the Jamaica Diaspora Institute, the Jamaica Diaspora Database and the Jamaica Diaspora Board.
He is a sporting enthusiast and enjoys golf, football and cricket. His hobbies also include reading and listening to music. *** |
