Protocol Department

This Department performs duties and provides services in following areas:

1. The accreditation of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps and International Organizations to Jamaica;

2. The accreditation process of Jamaican representatives to foreign countries;

3. The verification and confirmation of the eligibility of Diplomatic, Consular and International Agencies and their personnel for such privileges and immunities as stated in the Vienna Convention and other relevant international and bilateral agreements;

4. Facilitating Government Officials travelling overseas in acquiring appropriate travel documents and visas;

5. Assisting in ensuring that all State, Official and National functions are conducted with the appropriate attention to the requirements of Protocol;

6. Translating documents and correspondence from Spanish and French into English in order to facilitate work of the Ministry;

7. Assisting with or coordinating arrangements for the hosting of international conferences and meetings;

8. Providing advice pertaining to matters of protocol whenever requested;
